I feel that, in view of your final sentence, this is a really good time to talk to you about use of the word "cum" in fic. I am seeing it ALL OVER THE DAMN PLACE at the moment and it rips me out of the fic in 0.0000003 seconds and I LOATHE it. Why is this a thing now? When did a certain section of the populace decide that there has to be a different spelling because God knows, perhaps if I'm reading a scene where people are having sex I'm not going to understand "come" in context? HAVE YOU NOTICED THIS TOO? IS IT JUST ME? AM I NOT DOWN WITH THE COOL KIDS ANY MORE?!
I mean, I have a hard enough time writing explicit but I think if I now have to use slang I'm going to give up entirely. And "pre-cum" basically ranks right up there as one of the worst words/phrases in the English language from my POV. WHY AREN'T THERE SEXIER WORDS FOR SEX?!??
WHY, SHANKS! it is not the result of my obsessive C/K college AU musings AT ALL, NOPE NO SIREE...!
I have not used the word 'cum' in a fic. Or, perhaps, like, ever. Until now. THANKS FOR RUINING THAT. I have no theories for your question though. SOZ. Maybe some people DO find those words sexy? I definitely don't!
I feel that potentially I should clarify that I have no problems with "come" because it is the correct spelling. It's the incorrectness of it as a word in the dictionary that I carry in my head. I am such a snob sometimes. But it's the same as the unforgivable muddling up of tenses mid sentence. It's just not okay. That is why you get a beta if you're rubbish at grammar. Like why I keep you around...
Thank you!! I'm really, really pleased with how it came out. It's pretty much exactly what I intended (which doesn't always happen!!) so I am super excited to know that you liked it/thought it was well written :)
It's pretty much exactly what I intended (which doesn't always happen!!) << i know exactly what you mean! i'm almost never satisfied with anything i write!
