Work Update - I'm Screwed

Feb 21, 2013 18:39

I thought I would give a bit of a update on my working issues, since I saw the doctor on Wednesday. My doctor is a pill guy and basically danced around the issue that the seizures are caused by stress. But, I've been seizure free for two and a half years and was already on 1,200 MGs of the meds. There is noway it's a med issue, as he seems to think ( Read more... )

OMG. I can't believe how these assholes are treating you! Is there anyone you can report them to? You really need to find someone locally who can help you. Are you considered disabled? If so, is there a disability rights agency you can contact?

Right? The work is being super nice and understanding. But, the agencies that were meant to help are being awful. As is my doctor, actually. I am disabled: Cerebral Palsy and Seizures. I feel like I should contact someone, but I'm unsure of who. Truthfully, I might have to wait until after the meeting. There is the possibility that they could sue me, if I leave without proper medical records from the doctor or if they think I'm not giving the job enough time. The doctors office that I work for was willing to let me go tomorrow or next week.

All I know is that LRS Lady and especially Goodwill Lady are going to fight to make me stay, regardless of what I want or what the doctors, office manager, etc think is best.

Where I work can't sue me, but the rehab place (Louisiana Rehab Sericves) and Goodwill may be able to. It's my understanding they've done it before, when they've found the person wanted to quit but there was no "solid medical evidence" to support the disabled person leaving the job before six months. They sued for money that was used in getting the person trained/educated for the job.

I wouldn't worry about being sued. Because quite frankly, if you've kept records of things (and I would of all phone calls made, things sent, etc. you could even make a timeline up of events - I recently helped a friend with their lawsuit), they have as much to lose as you, and more as well in a lawsuit ( ... )

This makes me so angry. How can this person call themselves a counselor and then make you feel that way? Obviously you're not quitting because you're "spoiled." You were willing to finish the three months, after all! This person has no right to belittle you, especially since your health is involved in this situation.

Maybe if the stress is self-caused it's because you actually seem to care about doing a good job. I get that same line at work all the time: "Gee, I sure am stressed." "Well, we're not, we're all machines, so get over it." People just need to realize that not everyone works in the same way, and that stress is the root of an awful lot of problems.

Hopefully your boss talks a little sense into your counselor, since it sounds like they were willing to help you out so you could stay through March.

I do hope everything works out. <3

Today was my last day. I'm a little sorry and worried - I have nothing else lined up.

For now, I hope you just concentrate on feeling better. :) Something will come along, you'll see.
