I don't know whether to be delighted that Run for the Light has a sequel--because that ending, OMG or feel selfish about being delighted, since you have Other Priorities. So I'll just hope your creative writing will get your juices flowing for the thesis.
I'm sort of in the same boat. I'm not sure whether to be delighted that I'm writing so much (yay, productivity!) or horrified by the fact I've got to write so much. Things like the sequel to Run for the Light and With Space to Swing keep me from banging my head against a wall when I cannot think about my thesis anymore. It's good stress relief. It'll still probably be a while before I finish the sequel - like I said, it's on the bottom of the priority list - but I'm determined to get it out.
(Also, how do you feel about Blinded by the Light as a title? I'm getting tired of calling it The Sequel.)
NGL, I'm iffy about Blinded by the Light as a title: to me, it sounds just a bit too much like some earnest cautionary tale--probably from the 1980s, possibly published by Zondervan--about Wayward Youth Led Astray by a cult. But alas, if you asked me to help you brainstorm something different, I'd draw a complete blank. Maybe the Poetic Edda can supply you with something suitable--check W. H. Auden's translation, especially the long poem Havamal.
I'm horrible with titles, so I'm still searching the lyrics from Run for the Light's theme song ("Geeving" Abandon All Ships) for inspiration. 90% of my titles end up being lyrically inspired.
I read Run for the Light and thought it was amazing and I just couldn't stop. Banter was great. I loved the characters. I loved the flashbacks. I loved ALL OF IT. SO AMAZING.

All the best for the thesis, the novel, and all the fic you are writing!

But really I just wanted to say...A thesis? AND a novel?!
*humbled*
I hope both of these accomplishments have been rewarding endeavors. Even if they've pushed you into lunacy :)
