I love this so much! The opening line drew me in immediately and I adore the way it unfolds. It might sound cheesy, but I see this plant as a sort of sign that some things can stand alone and be strong without nurture. It's symbolic of self sufficiency - and in such an unlikely place!

Loved this post! Thanks for sharing it! :)

That's what I think about when I look at it. I think I would be crushed if one day it actually died.

Wonderful!

Plants amaze me. I kill the ones I tend and kill the ones I forget...then one will come along that refuses to turn brown. You have got to admire that kind of tenacity!!

It's an amazing little plant. Eventually it will probably outgrow that little bowl if it lives long enough. They grow to be about two feet tall and three feet wide. I like them because they don't have prickles.

I have a "monster" jade plant that began as a scrappy thing I once bought at a K-Mart Garden Center. It's a beauty now.
My daughter's 1st grade teacher hd a whole side of her room filled w Jade plants. Must've been a happy spot for them. She moved to Florida too....Hey, you aren't Mrs. Kaye by any chance, are you? Anyway, I enjoyed reading your entry.

Nope, I'm not Mrs. Kaye!

Jades happen to be one of my favorite plants. I just can't seem to get the cats to leave them alone long enough to grow to such robust sizes. This little guy just might make it.

I really liked this a lot! Gotta love the spirit of a plant that refuses to die!

Thanks for reading! Yeah, we like the little guy too...which is why I steadfastly refuse to do more than look at him once in a while.
