Argh. Well, no more sleeping pills for me for a while. I woke up with a horrible stomachache after having a nightmare about my stomach exploding into boils, with little bubbles of pain popping up across my tummyskin. I thought I was dying. Yeah, it was great ( Read more... )

I've found that one good way to quickly go to sleep is to get a good full-body stretch in and then doze off in the post-stretch happy afterglow. I don't mean like the "I'm about to work out" stretch, but more like the "Ima gonna go sleepy now" cat stretch.

Not to sound snarky, but since you don't have a "day" job or anything, why does it matter when you sleep/wake up?

If I had your job, I'd most definitely be a night person. Sleep from 5 a.m. to noon-ish.

The problem is, since humans are not made to work this way, eventually you end up feeling really tired even if you sleep 12 hours a day.

I think that's speaking a bit too generally... Some human beings cope with sleeping during the day just fine.

Me as well. I was thinking that David might have a different clock-cycle than what is considered "normal". I've always been a night person, and now that I have a graveyard shift job, it's a great and wonderful thing. I get home around 8am and go to bed then.

David, you should forget about a 'bedtime' for awhile and just stay awake until you're ready to pass out. Make sure you don't have an alarm set, and just sleep. You'll probably 'lose' a few days, but your body should finally set itself to whatever your natural cycle is. (I seem to be on a 30-32 hour schedule, but having a job plays havoc with that)

"Stupid brain. Why can't you stop thinking?"

Not a problem I've ever had. Usually the opposite in fact.
