At some point I will have a lot to say about my visit to Oklahoma (which I'm still on) but I want to talk to some people about it first, so you will all have to wait.

In other news, I finished Eldest and I kind of want to hit Christopher Paolini over the head. Not for any of the reasons you may want to hit him over the head, but still I do. I'm ( Read more... )

"fecund" = fertile, as displayed in "Clueless" when Josh's date snobbishly whines that the university has "taken our young minds at their most fecund point" and looks like an utter tool.

Good songs about Oklahoma include "I'm proud to be an Okie From Muskogee" and Wade Hayes's pair of songs, "You Know How Much I Love You (Don't Make Me Come to Tulsa)" and "The Day She Left Tulsa (in a Chevy)"

Well next time I read a book by him, you'll just have to follow me around so I can look up, ask you to define something, and then get back to reading. How much would you charge me for that? Being my walking dictionary?

I'll have to check out these Oklahoma songs. They don't sound fun like "Ohio" though. Sigh.

Much of the book was about the deepening relationships between Eragon/Saphira and Eragon/Brom, most of which was barely mentioned in the movie. I wonder how that actually played for someone who saw the movie without reading the book---was there enough background to explain why these characters even gave a damn about each other? It pretty much ruined the movie for me, even though I did grow to like the guy who played Eragon. I don't have high hopes for a movie sequel, but I can't wait for the third book ;)

Well, yeah. I saw the movie before reading the book and was intrigued enough to find out if the lame story line was Paolini's fault or the guy that wrote the movie. (Turns out it's not Paolini's fault, who knew?) I will admit to having a crush on the guy that played Eragon, but I wonder how they'll make the next movie at all without even mentioning that dwarves and elves exist. Unless they plan to completely butcher everything, and then I guess it's okay.
