The room falls silent after Michael leaves, neither of the remaining men being sure what to say.
David gently caresses the wound on Jason's left wrist and sighs sadly. "I'm so sorry," he finally whispers, and Jason looks up.
"Hmm?", he follows David's gaze, twisting his wrist carefully to look at it better, then gives a small shrug. "It's not a big deal. I bruise really easily." He smiles reassuringly. "Always have," he adds as an after-thought.
David carefully lifts Jason's hand, and brings it to his lips. He kisses right over the pulse on his wrist. "I'm still sorry," he murmurs.
Jason just closes his eyes, holding his hand up to David's lips as he kisses it again. After a moment of silence that David doesn't seem to be breaking soon, he opens his eyes again, and shifts his position slightly. He leans in, grazing his lips over David's cheek, slowly removing his hand from David's grip. "Don't worry about it, Dave." He slowly climbs down from the counter, and slips his hand into David's, before tugging him gently towards the hall.
David follows willingly, but his mind is still running in circles about how he could hurt Jason, how he already has, and he knows that Jason can tell because he squeezes David's hand softly, and kisses his cheek again. His eyes are sad as he follows Jason into the bedroom, and sits down on the bed. He barely watches as Jason grabs his guitar from it's stand by the wall, and sits in front of him on the bed, placing it across his lap, and positioning his hands. He gives David a soft smile before he starts playing.
David becomes more alert when he hears a familiar riff, and he sees Jason smile at him, before he lowers his gaze to the fret board.
Take your turn to lean on me
I've leaned on you for so long
Your words, they hide behind your age
My words, they sing you this song
And I fall from this tightrope
That you've walked a thousand times
One step over to step
You're wise beyond your eyes
He can't seem to wrap his mind around the fact that Jason has learned one of his songs, not because he didn't think him capable, just because he didn't think Jason would do something like that. He should have found it odd, freaky, perhaps, but David actually finds it very endearing. Jason's voice is perfect for the song, as well, and David can't help but smile.
Walk away, it's your time
Deny the tear in my eye
Your memory will never die
Your memory will never die
At peace I trust in you every step of the way
To stay with me 'til the end of the day
So move on to your tomorrow as we all say goodnight
'cause you're my sense of balance for the rest of my life
He watches and listens as Jason pours his heart and soul out to him through words that he'd written by his own hand. Somehow, it seemed as if the song had always been meant for this moment, and this realization makes David very happy. He wants to reach out to Jason, take his hand, kiss his lips, brush his hair out of his face, anything, really, but he restrains. He doesn't want to interrupt this moment. Instead, he gazes steadily at the boy before him through soft eyes.
Now I'm waiting on the words
That I've never had the chance to tell
So this is my "I love you"
This is my "fare thee well"
Walk away, it's your time
Deny the tear in my eye
The memory will never die
The memory will never die
David's resolve finally breaks, and he reaches out, resting his hand on Jason's knee. It's all small gesture, but David wants it too mean so much more. Jason looks up at him momentarily, his eyes dancing with every emotion possible.
At peace I trust in you every step of the way
To stay with me 'til the end of the day
So move on to your tomorrow as we all say goodnight
'cause you're my sense of balance for the rest of my life, rest of my life
He smiles at David through the lyrics, and locks their gaze together. David can't look away, not that he wants to. As Jason sings the final verse to him, all he can see is the beautiful sea of blue that is staring back at him, and he wouldn't have it any other way. He slowly realizes that there are tears running down his cheeks, and he blushes, reaching up to wipe them away with his free hand.
Jason delivers the last verse as perfectly as he can, and when he sees the tears falling from David's eyes, he knows he's done well. He feels as if his heart is about to burst, but he has to finish. He has to finish so that David will know. David has to understand, and he does. Jason has never been good with words, but give him music? Give him music and he can spill his entire heart within minutes. It's just the way he is. Jason knows this, and he has accepted it long ago.
Rest of my life, rest of my life, rest of my life, rest of my life...
As Jason's voices fades out, and he plays the last chord, he closes his eyes, smiling both to himself, and for David. He wants to move the guitar so that it's not separating them, but keeping it in his hands is helping to hide the fact that they are trembling like mad.
He wants David to approve, he wants David to tell him that he's proud to have Jason perform his song, that he's proud of Jason, but he's scared that he did it wrong. He's scared that David didn't understand what he wanted to tell him, what he needed to tell him. He murmurs a soft prayer to himself before looking at David, and God, does the man before him look beautiful.
The way the sunlight is streaked across David's face makes Jason's heart flutter, and the tear tracks staining his cheeks make it stop beating for a moment. He stays silent, just looking at David, who appears to be too overwhelmed to react, but he is smiling, and Jason thinks that that must be good. After what feels like years he moves his hand from Jason's knee, and reaches up to take the guitar from him. He stands for long enough to return Jason's guitar to it's stand, then returns to his precious Jason.
"You're amazing", he breaths as he places his hand gently on Jason's chest, and pushes him down onto the bed, "So amazing." He presses his lips to Jason's, and crawls on top of him.
Jason's fingers skim along the hem of David's shirt as he kisses David back. "I know," he murmurs happily, "But so are you." He tugs at the shirt a little, pulling it up David's body. David pulls away long enough for Jason to pull the shirt over his head before pressing against him, and locking their lips again.
Jason tosses the shirt aside, and gasps softly as contact is made. David's skin is just so warm against his, and soft. God, his skin is so soft, and silky, and Jason is amazed. He runs his hands up David's back, over his shoulders, down his chest, and David shudders because Jason's hands feel so good on his skin. David turns his head a little and kisses Jason's cheek, then his neck, and Jason arches his back slightly because his neck is just so sensitive and David's lips feel wonderful against it. He moans softly as David licks his neck, and hooks his thumbs into David's belt loops, pulling him closer. David thrusts his hips gently making Jason moan again.
David's lips find Jason's again, and he runs his tongue over Jason's bottom lip. Jason gladly opens his mouth, giving David access. His tongue roams wildly, tasting every inch of Jason that it can, and Jason slowly allows his own tongue to join in. David growls lightly, their tongues now fighting for dominance. And David's is winning.
Jason shifts slightly underneath David, spreading his legs. He unhooks one of his thumbs from David's jeans and runs his hand up David's spine, before tangling it into his hair, pulling him deeper into the kiss. David's hands slide down Jason's body to rest at his hips as he bucks his own toward Jason again. He finally breaks this kiss, and Jason gasps for air, his eyes are wide with pleasure and his cheeks are flushed, which just stimulates David even more. Jason slowly released his hold on David's hair as he lays back.
David brings his mouth down to one of Jason's nipples, flicking at it with his tongue for a moment, causing Jason's entire body to shiver beneath him as he moans. He can feel Jason's erection pressing against him, and he bucks his hips again, rubbing against it. Jason's eyes roll back slightly at the contact.
"David..", he gasps, making the older man look up at him.
He smirks, and slides back up Jason's body. "You have no idea how badly I want you," he whispers into Jason's ear, making him whimper. But I can't have you. Not yet. He moves one of his hands up to brush a dread from the boy's face, then presses their lips together again.
Jason just looks up into his eyes, and smiles after kissing him back. "You can have me," he finally whispers, but David shakes his head.
"It's too soon," he whispers back, kissing Jason's neck. Yes, David knows it is too soon, and he doesn't want to make the same mistake he'd made the last time. "Promise me," David breaths, catching Jason's gaze, "You'll stop me when I go to far."
"David..", Jason whines, and tries to turn away from David's intense stare, but David puts his hand on the side of his face to stop him.
"Jason." His eyes are fierce, but they're also pleading, "Promise me, no matter what it takes, you'll stop me before I go too far." Jason isn't saying anything, so he presses further. "Promise, me, Jason. Whatever it takes."
Jason is still silent for a long moment, but he finally nods."I promise," he whispers.
