(Redacted) (redacted)! Just when I thought I was out, they drag me back in! (Redacted)! How can they (redacted) do this to me!

Do you have to play Warhammer 40K with their minis?

Why not just get the rules and use cardboard markers (to which you have glued images you grab and print out) instead?

I don't remember where or when I started it. I just remember doing it, and I still do it on the few occasions I buy frozen onion-rings. *shrug*

Also, viz. painting, don't worry. I suck at painting, and I play. It's fun stuff. And 5th ed is much less 'who gets what save' and much more 'can you see less than half of it? If yes, he gets a 4+ cover save, then.'

You could always do what I do with minis for our D&D game:

Spray paint them jet black, and then dry brush them metallic silver or gold.

The process converts plain old minis into little metallic works of art.
