In a previous entry we mentioned a delicious dish involving eggs and bread, but failed to recognize that this recipe should be credited to one Kurt Hunt. We at Alexis's LiveJournal are committed to accuracy, and we apologize for any misunderstanding this omission may have caused.

I think that I'll start making that dish until I finally get my toaster, which I sort of forgot to have my dad bring up (whooops).

Apology accepted, but to continue giving credit where credit is due: I got the recipe from my mom, who got it from her dad Earl, who was born in New Orleans. I'm pretty sure it's not a southern dish, so I don't know where its origins are past that. If you like yolks at all, the best way to cook it is to leave the yolk slightly runny, and then you can use the bread circle to sweep it up.

The English have something similar that they call "eggy bread," but they omit the butter. The result is typical English: dry and tasteless.
