[action!] Boogie down like a unicorn!

Oct 17, 2010 02:24

[Even before midnight, kids are getting into the party with their Gryffindor escorts (a clever plan thought up by Alicia so the password (truffles) for the Fat Lady wouldn't get spread around.) He greeted each one with a beaming smile and a one-armed hug if he knew them well. By quater-past-midnight, the part was in full swing, the common room filled the brim with conversation, the laughter and talk punctuated by loud explosions as the Exploding Snap tournament continued.

Alfred couldn't help but beam and wink at Alicia in a self-congratulatory manner. God, what would this castle do without their awesome parties? And, as an added bonus, Gilbert had somehow managed to scare get the houseelves into bringing up sweets and food. It was rather hilarious to see Vash dragooned into eating one of the taffies offered by Lili (after Alfred had told her that they were delicious and that Vash would love them) and then watch him fumble over words. Beside him, Dewi excelled despite having a tongue the size of a football, definitely winning for the night and earning himself a few hearty pats on the back and more than a few butterbeers-mixed-with-firewhiskey shoved into his hands.

Before Alfred could even question where the firewhiskey had come from, Alicia was brandishing the bottle at him, grinning. He offered a cheers to her before throwing back a swallow, hissing at the heat searing down his throat and coughing slightly, the older student taking the bottle back and downing a gulp herself without even flinching. Alfred's pride took a small blow.

John and Raj turned up around 2:15 and immediately embroiled themselves in the Peruvian Darkness, John managing to squeeze in a hello and a hair ruffle. The spin the bottle was probably a little quieter, the people participating drenched in smoke while everyone else was watching five pygmy puffs race across the room to the cheers and calls of the assembled students, Erin and Connor back in time from their distraction for Otto to collect and organise bets.

By this time, a few people were starting to leave, John and Rajiv primary among them while Kimmy leaving and first demanding a practice duel later in the week before sliding outside. Alfred wasn't sure if he saw the portrait stay open a second too long but put the thought aside as the smallest and fuzziest Pygmy, named Sprinkles (Alicia's casual suggestion for the best considering she had assembled the Pygmies) made it across the finish and earned the American a combined pot of seventeen knuts, five sickles and a sugar-quill.

Turning his attention to the box of fireworks, Alfred barely had time to throw himself to the ground as a certain Slytherin ignited the box. Fireworks exploded everywhere, throwing the people of the party into a mass panic. None of the fireworks were hitting the screaming and flailing students, charms placed on them but the exploding lights and whirls and whistles of sound were definitely causing quite the uproar and practically ripping the Gryffindor common room apart.

When everything had calmed down enough, the fireworks escaping through windows, up the spiral staircases into the dorms or out into the corridor with the fleeing students, Alfred saw a boy sitting near the box, dark eyes watching the fireworks. The blue eyes flicked to the glowing wandtip and then to the green and silver tie the boy was wearing.

Alfred loomed over him, Alicia right behind him, both of them looking absolutely livid. Picking him up by the scruff of the neck, Alfred growled but before he could curse/punch the boy there was an ominous clearing of a throat behind him and Gryffindor's Head of House was standing behind them, hair done up in a messy bun, obviously just woken from a very peaceful sleep.

"A-Ah Professor Petallides I can explain-" He and Alicia had both started but they couldn't say anything more before a silencing charm was placed over them and Zhi and the trio were marched from the common room, down the corridor still packed with fleeing students, straight to the Headmistress' Office. It was a very unpleasant affair, starting off with Headmistress Stewart offering Atthis a blood-lolly before listening quietly to the story and before Alfred could even try to blame anything on Zhi, he pulled out a copy of the notice Alfred had pinned up, slowly passing it over to the Scot. She took a moment to read it before speaking.

"Jones, Peeters?"

"Y-Yes?"

"150 points."

"W-what!? No! we didn't-"

"Zhi?"

"..."

"40 points."

"Professor! Please-"

But the conversation was over. Alicia, Alfred and Zhi were forced from the room and outside. The second their feet were back in the corridor outside the gargoyle leading up to the Headmistress' office, a young man with long brown hair had exploded around the corner and cursed Zhi so the boy froze and hit the ground. Muttering angrily under his breath in Chinese, the Ravenclaw student proceeded to drag the poor petrified Zhi back to Slytherin while Alfred walked back to Gryffindor, Alicia beside him looking quite putout.

And it was only in this moment, in the corridor walking back to a destroyed common room with a solid chunk of points missing from the hourglass, did Alfred realise he'd missed his date with Ivan.]
