You know...I've sort of had a thing against the books for a while, and the people who read them too. Well, not the ones who read them, but more the ones who obsess over them. Namely little kids who are doing it mainly because it's trendy and are missing the whole point of the series, and also the rabid fans that generally range from around 17 to 30-something. You know. With their fanfics and their Snarry and having every other word that comes out of their mouth relate to something in the books.
But recently I've started to look past that, and I've found that the stories really are quite good. I'm not a big fan of the books, which is why I stopped reading about a third of the way through the fourth one. But even though the movies haven't been PERFECT, they've been much more enjoyable to me because I don't immerse myself in the backgrounds that the book sets up. And I think that allows me to enjoy the movies alot more...because I don't know what I'm missing. Hahaha.
I think that's the thing. Everybody at work has been going nuts over the movie and the last book. Like I told Damaris, there are people who are planning to call a day off of work so they can devote that entire day to reading Deathly Hallows. I can understand rabid fanaticism to a point. Lord knows I'm more than guilty of it. But geez, it's overkill after a while and even I shut up when I know it's been overdone. It probably doesn't help that I'm working for the same company that puts out the movies, so no matter what, I can't escape it. Though I'm glad that this new one is doing so well because hey - that movie is actually supporting me financially right now
( ... )
I knew, but I didn't expect it to be such an emotional punch in the gut. It was really hard to watch the scenes with Sirius and Harry before it happened too.
