So.
Harry Potter.
Seriously my favourite movie of the year.
My favourite things about it are as follows.
- The overall tone. This movie was SO much more mature and dark than that last four, and well thought out and magnificently paced. It took all the good things about the first movies and made them better. And it looked GOOD. It looked so good.
- Harry, Hermione and Ron. None of them annoyed me this time around, which is something they were never able to pull off before IMHO.
- Luna Lovegood. I agree with Brandi. Where the fuck did that girl come from and why hasn't she been a star for years? She was SO good and so sweet and so cute and insane. She was my favourite character.
- Tonks was hot.
- The thestrals were amazing. I want one right the fuck now. And a baby one as well, so I can feed it large quantities of meat.
- Umbridge was incredible. I haaaaaaaaaaaated her. In the best way ever, of course. I loved every second she was onscreen. She was so perfectly cruel.
- The score was fantastic. I've never really been impressed with the music in the movies until this one.
- The relationship between Sirius and Harry. The scenes they shared together were so sweet and sad, which I guess is mostly due to knowing how it was all going to end. =\
- The final battle(s). So great. The Death Eaters fight/standoff was great, but the Dumbledore/Voldemort confrontation was glorious. Amazing. The part where Voldemort got inside Harry was brilliant too.
Anyway, yeah. So great. I'm so glad there was finally a Harry Potter movie I loved from beginning to end. I have lots of hope for the next two. :)
Then we went to Travis' for a pool party, which turned out to be the Apocalyptic Pool Party Of Doom because a huge storm whipped up right after I got there. But it was fun anyway. And then Brandi and Travis came over here and hung out for the rest of the night.
I drank six Mike's Hard Lemonades and got a really hardcore buzz going on all night. I fear my tolerance for alcohol has once again dropped. :(
Then Tara and I stayed in bed sleeping and watching TV and just laying around until 3 this afternoon. It was lovely.
So yeah. That was my weekend. How was yours?
