So I posted a blog entry on the virtues of Free Comic Book Day. I went over to the Big Planet in Vienna. They had most of the bigger titles, but they didn't seem to have as many of the smaller quirkier titles sadly. To me that's really the fun of FCBD. I can read Green Lantern or Avengers nearly anytime I want, but how often can I find some of the ( Read more... )

Interesting comments on Wolverine. I figure I'll bite the bullet Wednesday. I can say the boxes for the Papa John's Pizza tie-in I wrote about are very pretty indeed.

By the way, do I correctly recall your mentioning an anime called "Bubblegum Crisis"? At the library bookstore last Sunday, I saw a set of eight episodes on VHS for sale. I'm aiming to go back soon, so I can check for them again if it's of interest to you. (I'm guessing not, since it isn't on DVD, but I thought I'd mention it.)

The score! I totally forgot to mention that in my review of Wolverine. The main theme really heavily reminded me of the music that plays after Simba's father dies in The Lion King, and it distracted me EVERY TIME.

My current shop only had the bigger titles, too. I really miss the awesome shop that I don't live near anymore. :(

The question I've got is this...is Wolverine worth the big screen, or do you feel like it would be just as well served on home video?

I haven't collected comics in so long now that it almost seems alien to do so, though I will always appreciate the idea of free comic day. Reeling in the new generation, keeping those heroes alive, creating new legends along the way...that's what it's all about.
