Quality of Life

So I finished watching "Da Vinci: Quality of Life". Oh, Dominic, how we've missed you. And Chick and Kosmo and even Sam & Rita. I do wish there'd been a bit more detective work and less political maneuvering. After the ratcheted up tension of "City Hall", it was kinda funny watching Dominic and Chief Jacobs being so civil to each other. Even a line ( Read more... )

It was so great to seen them all again. Bittersweet given the CBC's relationship with Haddock means that's probably it for the franchise. :/

It *was* odd seeing Da Vinci and Jacobs working so well together, but nice too. They'd have been a truly dangerous pair if they'd ever been able to sustain that working relationship.

And I couldn't help thinking that Hugh Dillon's character was another version of Brian Curtis. Would have been nice to have had him appear.

I don't know that's a bad thing. I mean they're setting Dominic up for the Premier run and while the issues are bigger, I can't guess where they'd go story wise from there. I don't know how he'd survive in a larger political arena, populist or no. Shooting your mouth off locally is one thing, but when the whole province is listening?

Hugh Dillon's character did remind me of Brian Curtis and Klotchko and all the other nebulous gray we-can't-pin-anything-but-they're-guilty-as-hell characters I liked about Da Vinci.

True. And I'm not sure I'd want to see him slowly being co-opted by the political system. (I still miss the crusading coroner. I got the season 3 Inquest dvds, and need to rewatch.)

As fascinating as it is to hear about someone else's govt, I'm not sure I want to see all-political Dominic anytime soon. I do miss the crusading coroner.

Funny part was reading recently about dismembered feet washing up on the shores of Vancouver and wishing Da Vinci was still around to investigate. Probably not his jurisdiction anyway...
