If it had been Buffy, y'know we would have learned that the cop did somehow will the cancer onto himself in some supernatural fashion.

I was wondering if that was going to be the plot-twist too....the premise of the show is based on magic, so I've been waiting for other supernatural elements to show up. And for a Flying Dutchman reference.
