For example, as noted over on fb, ...and if you're on the individual market, open enrollment ends the 15th. Those who do not currently have health insurance will incur far higher tax penalties this year than they did last year; 2/15 is the end of the time one can enroll on the marketplace. I tried last year hoping I could save some money, but even with the gold, silver, bronze ratings comparing health insurance offerings is just as noxious, confusing and impenetrable as comparing cell phone plans.

I really should have put the effort in this year, but I only received notice my rate was going up $140 (net $1200 a month) last week. Last year it looked like i would save between $400 - $600 a month, but i couldn't figure out what I'd be losing in converting.

you've got a few days yet. Maybe a welcome distraction from everything else? But yeah, I'm right there with you on "noxious, confusing, and impenetrable as cel plans." There's at least a starting comparison on the site, but then there's going to the actual company sites.

And I'm lucky -- DC Healthlink is one of the better state versions; I hear Maryland is one of the worst.
