...So, the weather's slowly getting colder.  Can't say I'm enjoying that much, but at least Fall's pretty around here.   But to all the New Feathers out there, I suggest starting to get geared up for winter.  It gets pretty cold here once winter gets into full gear, and the last thing you need to do is get sick from it.

Trust me, it's not fun ( Read more... )

[ From what little can be seen from the journals, it's fairly clear that Lightning is out somewhere in the forest. She also sounds cold (and if she had a choice, that would definitely be far less obvious). ]

If you've got any suggestions for the cold, I'd like to hear them.

[Well, he can tell. But uh.]

Well, just wearing a really heavy coat, gloves, and a hat might help. But if you're looking for something to warm you up, Sanji makes some great food down at Seventh Heaven. He can probably cook you up something that'll warm you to the core.

... I see.

[ Well, to a point, figuring out the clothing part was something she was able to do on her own, though the restaurant suggestion is new. She's not really sure what else she was expecting though... the only thing audible is the sound of leaves underfoot as she goes thoughtfully silent at this. ]

[Well, this is strange.]

Say, what's going on? You stuck outside yourself?

[How to beat some cold winters? That's easy!]

Just dressing up warm does the trick! Moving around a ton helps too!

Yeah, I did that last year. Still managed to get sick, though. Maybe it was just bad luck.

Really? I did the same thing, and I was just fine. Maybe it was.

Hey, it tended to work pretty well for me until then. And after. But I was also thinking about other ways to keep warm other than just simply keeping active.

Not everyone can pull off training all winter, after all.

That soon, huh? Thanks for saying so! At home, I'd just keep moving, or find shelter, since it's kinda hard to dress up warm when you're wearing armor. But if you can, that too.

Well, a big heavy cloak might help if you're wearing armor. That's what I've seen some of the people do around here. Not exactly comfortable to fight in, but from what I've seen, it works well enough.

Oh man... that would explain what the cloak that came with this armor was for.

That... Yeah, it probably would. Do you still have it?

Staying inside by the fireplace is how I handle it.

That sounds like a good way. With a cup of hot tea as well, I take it?

Everything comes with tea. Did you happen to have any plans?

None that I had thought of. Luceti's winters are colder than Veldime's, so i just kinda gotta play it by ear.

Though I got through last winter with a lot of the normal winter trappings, as well as hot chocolate and I lost count how many times I went to Seventh Heaven for some of Chikane's cooking...

Long sleeves and a light coat. We didn't have many harsh winters in Resembool like they did in Briggs or North City. Rarely even had snow, too.

That's more of a winter I'm used to. It could get pretty cold in Veldime, but most of the winter wasn't as cold as it gets here, at least.

You're right, it does get really cold here. Did you enjoy all the snow we got last year, or no?

I had a love-hate relationship with it.

I like snow, generally. But I was not fond of a blizzard that left me trapped at a friend's house for a couple of days, and I could've done without the icy under-layer it produced on the paths around here. It gets really slippery when that happens.

...Weird, huh? I like snow but I don't like cold? Doesn't make sense.
