What amazes me the most about the BBC songs is how in-character they are. I mean, for Byakuya for example, I expected something slow, majestic and melodramatic, and that's exactly what I got. And voice-wise, everyone is instantly recognizable (which might not be the case with, say, Tenipuri). Of course, the in-character thingy doesn't always make for a good result. For instance, I hate Renji's songs, even though I love him as a character. I mean, they're just not listenable IMO.
And yes, Namikawa did good on those songs, but that's mostly due to the fact he's almost speaking, not singing XD
On the other hand, I must say I was disappointed with the latest BBC (Ukitake and Kaien). I had relatively high expectations and was let down. It's not even that the songs were bad. They were just.....a little boring.
I don't think I've heard Ukitake or Kaien's songs yet. I'm sure I'd remember since Ukitake is Ishikawa...the most recent I have is Byakuya/Rukia.
You hate Renji's songs? I find them incredibly amusing (lol). Especially when compared with some of Itou Kentarou's other songs - Daichi E To and some of the Koruda ones spring to mind. Mind you, if Renji ever speaks correct Japanese I'd be very surprised, so expecting him to sing it is probably a bit much. I figure my Japanese levels go down a fair way after watching Bleach *heh*. How many sentences can you end with "Ja ne ka?" and "Teme!" in one twenty minute slot, anyway?
And yeah - I guess the fact he's not really singing is the reason Namikawa-san gets away with it :S But eh, I like it, so I'm not gonna split hairs...
It's a French community, but I'm sure you'll find your way round ;)

I'm half wondering how Kaien - being a dead dead dude - managed to get a song, however ^_^. Was the lure of marketing Seki Toshihiko just too great a temptation to resist...??

So true ! XD And it goes for most shounen anime. At least the screenwriters are not too overworked. They can use the same sentences over and over XD
Ukitake and Kaien's BBC is available here :
