...but the sky IS falling! I saw it, and heard it, myself! Yep, we live exactly where that weird meteor/fireball thing "landed" last week! It was very freaky, especially the incredibly extended sonic boom (like loud thunder that lasted two minutes or more). Now our neighbors are finding pieces of extraterrestrial rock on their roofs or in their fields (nothing in our yard, as far as we can tell). After being a witness to such a remarkable phenomenon, I can see why "falling stars" have been revered by religions all over the world, and throughout time. Strangely, those meteoric events almost always "sparked" or otherwise signaled positive religious experiences, rather than "end of the world" scenarios. I wonder when that flipped? Now, meteors/comets/etc. are generally regarded (if they are regarded in a religious context at all) as portents of doom. And, to be honest, as a witness to something that dramatic and extraordinary, I did feel suddenly small and vulnerable.
