Ayame had come to see if shigure had been home at all. Since he did not have a communicator, he had not been able to simply message shigure to find the man. He moved through the house, looking in each room. He then heard Akito's voice. Damn it...

It sounded as if Akito didn't know if it was shigure or not either. That meant that shigure had not been here all along. He would have to face akito one day or another, he thought as he moved toward the door.

"Nay, it is I, Ayame! Could I assist you?" He said with a smile on his face. Ayame was actually quite scared to be here, but with his great acting skills, easily hid that. He moved to stand in the doorway.

That voice. She hadn't heard it in a very long time. Not even before she arrived in this world, because in this place Ayame had been female.

Akito stood abruptly, knocking a small vase that had been on a table next to her to the floor. She remembered what Shigure had said about death in this place... how people would die and come back to life again... but this had been so long ago!

She wasn't sure whether to go to the man, to touch him, to be sure he was really there and alive; or to run away. She took a staggering step backwards. The bond she shared with the Snake had not shattered like those of the Sheep and the Tiger, or vanished like the Bird, but the spirits did not leave completely when their posessed Sohma died.

"Go away!" she managed to say, waving a hand wildly in front of her. "Leave me alone! Go! I didn't do it!"

"Are you sure?" Ayame piped with a smile, though he was somewhat happy that akito was trying to force him away. It wasn't like ayame really wanted to see the god anyway.

"Yes!" she cried. She couldn't believe this - couldn't stand to believe that the jovial young man in front of her was the same person as the broken woman who Akito herself had caused to die - but it hadn't been her fault - Ayame wasn't here to take vengeance - he couldn't be!

"I did nothing wrong!"
