Ayame had come to see if shigure had been home at all. Since he did not have a communicator, he had not been able to simply message shigure to find the man. He moved through the house, looking in each room. He then heard Akito's voice. Damn it...
It sounded as if Akito didn't know if it was shigure or not either. That meant that shigure had not been here all along. He would have to face akito one day or another, he thought as he moved toward the door.
"Nay, it is I, Ayame! Could I assist you?" He said with a smile on his face. Ayame was actually quite scared to be here, but with his great acting skills, easily hid that. He moved to stand in the doorway.
That voice. She hadn't heard it in a very long time. Not even before she arrived in this world, because in this place Ayame had been female.
Akito stood abruptly, knocking a small vase that had been on a table next to her to the floor. She remembered what Shigure had said about death in this place... how people would die and come back to life again... but this had been so long ago!
She wasn't sure whether to go to the man, to touch him, to be sure he was really there and alive; or to run away. She took a staggering step backwards. The bond she shared with the Snake had not shattered like those of the Sheep and the Tiger, or vanished like the Bird, but the spirits did not leave completely when their posessed Sohma died.
"Go away!" she managed to say, waving a hand wildly in front of her. "Leave me alone! Go! I didn't do it!"
"Are you sure?" Ayame piped with a smile, though he was somewhat happy that akito was trying to force him away. It wasn't like ayame really wanted to see the god anyway.
"Yes!" she cried. She couldn't believe this - couldn't stand to believe that the jovial young man in front of her was the same person as the broken woman who Akito herself had caused to die - but it hadn't been her fault - Ayame wasn't here to take vengeance - he couldn't be!
Ayame stepped into the room anyway. It was defiantely not the wisest thing he had done, but it was apparent that the god did not blame herself, and that was just not right! Even so, ayame stood inside of the room.
"Oh, come now! If course you did at least something wrong! For if you were perfect we could not love you for our many imperfections! Don't you see? The fact that you too, are able to do wrong brings us closer in understanding of one another! The beautiful bond of ours, one should look upon the weaknesses as also a strength in order to unite us more, don't you agree?" He asked as he set his bag down.
"Now my dearest god, if you promise not to loose your gracious temper with me, I shall bestow upon you a peaceful gift! In order to return our harmony!"
Akito could only gape at him. It seemed to be Ayame... the Ayame she had known back in their own world, and yet with all the memories of the one she had come to despise in this world. But... he wasn't angry? Of course not. None of them could be angry with her. But he was still reprimanding her. If she had not been so shocked, she might have responded to his words, but as it was she could only sit back down, never taking her eyes off him. She still was not completely sure that he was real.
"Say you will accept my gracious gift?!" He asked with a smile. His hair flowing as he moved. Ayame had not lost his beauty, even though he was the correct gender now. The golden eyes flashed with happiness, or extremely good acting of happiness.
Ayame knew that akito did not deserve a gift, but for now, she had no where really to stay but here. She had hoped that maybe she could have gotten in contact with haru about a place to live, but haru had explained the problem with yuki, and how he would not understand what was going on, and it might be a larger stress. Ayame had sided the idea for now and had decided that this would have to be the only place. In which, he would have to confirm with akito that he could stay.
"Yes! A gift worthy of anyone important! I have placed my heart into this creation! It shall surely be something you will love!" He smiled as he went to his bag and pulled out a beautiful bi gender robe/yukata/male kimono. It would look beautiful on either gender. A darker rick purple color, meant for royalty, with light silver designs along the edges.
"I am sure it would look absolutely stunning on you Akito-sama!"
The robe was beautiful, a clearly well-made garment. Akito stared at it. This didn't seem real. Until minutes ago she had believed Ayame was gone, dead - and not about to walk through the door showering her with gifts.
Ayame seemed as sane as he ever had been, and not resentful at all about what Akito had done. She didn't understand. "Why?" she asked, her voice sharp. "Why are you giving me this?"
"Very good question! For one, that thing is horribly hard to drag around everywhere I go, and secondly, I do wish to ask you a very grand favor, and I give you this in hopes that you may not bash my beautiful body open with every question~!" He piped as he presented the garmet to her and continued being ayame.
Akito glared, the anger that she had felt towards Ayame previously coming back. "You deserved it," she hissed, "everything!" Ayame had provoked her, had betrayed her - and now dared to come back and insinuate that Akito had been in the wrong.
"Well if that's the way you feel about it, I shall leave you alone! I am dreadfully sorry of the inconvienience that I have caused you, but please, take the garmet anyway, and enjoying Akito-sama!" He said as he stood up still with a smile. Akito had learned nothing at all this whole time, and sill thought it was not her fault that he had died. Either way, if that was the case, he, nor his son would be very safe in this house.
Akito felt the slightest pang of regret at Ayame's words. She had come to terms with the blame for Ayame's death, although it had taken a while, but to see the man before her now - everything had gone back to denial again. Because if Ayame still lived... then Akito could not possibly be held at fault.
Akito knew that she owed the man an apology, but it was hard, so hard to say it. She had regretted her actions before... Ayame's death... she knew now that the blame was all hers, even if Ayame's behaviour had caused her to act. If she said nothing now, it would be hard not to fall back into the cycle of her fearing the opinions of the other Juunishi, of constantly hating them for not loving her.
"Ayame..." He had stopped when she'd asked. He still followed her orders. But if she were to wish for his respect, would she have it? The respect she was owed, she had relinquished through her actions.
"I..." Akito looked down at the floor. This was hard enough to say without keeping eye contact as well. "I apologise."
It sounded as if Akito didn't know if it was shigure or not either. That meant that shigure had not been here all along. He would have to face akito one day or another, he thought as he moved toward the door.
