Arietta felt the motion of being picked up, but didn't react to it no more than just shifting herself to be closer to the warmness of Cain. She body naturally reacted that way and there wasn't much she could consciously do about it.

Dreaming.

It was never pleasant when it was full of nightmares. It was also part of the reason why Arietta was afraid to sleep alone.

Without noticing the connection, when Cain got up, Arietta's dream took a downhill trip. That happiness she dreamed up was taken away from him because the warmth was removed. That's why Arietta's body desperately reached out for Cain again, so she could return to that happiness. But with his struggle of getting her to a bed, she couldn't exactly get to close to him, thus, the nightmare continued.

'Oh, I pity that poor child. Her parents were killed in the horrible tsunami. And she's so young too ( ... )

Arietta didn't move when she was touched by Cain, but something told her body she was needed by him. Somehow.

In her dream, her mind was still tugging with whether she should turn around or not.

It was a warmth she recently grew accustomed to but it was unknown.

[[ ooh ooh, can Arietta wake up before him? No more unhappy dreams T____T]]

Maybe she won't come, he thought rather hopefully, twirling the little green bottle between his fingers. Alternately, he might be able to convince her not to take it, might he not? She really had so much more than that man to live for. Best for her to recognize this and not come at all.

...but if she didn't come, he wouldn't see her...

She was his cousin. Tsking under his breath, Cain uncorked the bottle in his dream, setting it out on the table to add the final ingrediant to the mixture for his poor beloved, the one who should be a Juliet.

[[ooc: That would be nice. It's just that Cain doesn't really... have happy stuff to dream about at all. >>;;]]

The head on top of hers muffled some words in her hair. Arietta couldn't quite understand them though.

It was a voice she knew, but vaguely.

She needed to know! She needed to know who this person was.

Slowly she turned her head around and start to look upward.

[[probably the next post, she'll wake up considering she's been sleeping longer than he has]]

She was beautiful. No one else in the world appreciated that the way he did. Suzette was perfect, really; even this silly little plan was perfect, perfect for her, for a silly young girl just barely 15 and in love with someone she wasn't allowed to have.

The real Juliet had been 12? 13?

Cain couldn't understand why his hands were shaking. It was as if he knew something would go wrong. Because... this had happened before, not in a play, in his life...

...she was going to die.

In his dream, Cain dropped the bottle, scattering the contents everywhere. Again his grip on Arietta tightened slightly, trying to cling to that warm happy place where he wasn't having the beginning of a nightmare.

Arietta turned around fully to face the presence behind her; the presence that brought her in closer.

Arietta blinked a couple of times to stir herself awake. In her mind, she didn't have to turn around and look at the presence that hugged her.

All she had to do was look up... and she did.

Cain. He was the presence behind her, somehow, watching over her.

His eyes were closed but his face was pained. Arietta wondered if this was how she was when she was plagued by nightmares in her sleep.

As Cain tightened his grasp on Arietta, she did the same for him. She wanted to comfort him too, just has he had did for her. She brought herself in closer to him, as much as she could. And for him, tears flowed from her eyes. Maybe by this point she was crying for him.

For now, he needed her for support and comfort.

He could already hear her saying it. 'That's our promise, Cousin Cain.' As if it were the simplest thing in the world, real child's play to let lives slip and slide this way. She didn't know she was going to die. When she came, he'd tell her, tell her it was hopeless, tell her things could be different, tell her he loved--

There was a sudden tightness around him, as if he'd been hugged. It wasn't Suzette. Merry? No, that couldn't be. When Suzette was alive, he still hadn't met Merry, so... it had to be...

...dreaming. Quite suddenly his eyes blinked open, wild and confused, flashing bright gold as he tried to understand his surrounding and remember how he'd gotten to this place with this person. His breath came in sharply, almost ragged for a moment.

Arietta looked into his eyes once again. Once she had her fill, she buried her head back into his chest and hugged him tighter.

"We're both unhappy, aren't we?" she said, thinking out loud.

But being with Cain at this very moment made her happy. She comforted her, gave her affection, and was there when she went to sleep and there when she awoke. Those things meant a lot to her, and no one had ever been able to do all those things for the young God General.

"...I would not say that," the nobleman ventured after a moment of calming his heartrate down. He certainly hadn't had that dream in a while. There were much fresher, more painful memories to draw on for nightmares these days. As his own breathing was soothed by the tight hug and regained conciousness, one hand again found its way to Arietta's hair, brushing carefully through the locks in a soft soothing motion. "I'm quite happy here."

She wasn't Merry, but she was warm and curled up against him in a similar way, with the intention of bringing him peace. Cain wasn't sure what else one could ask for in a friend.

"Hmn..." She agreed, she was quite content of her position.

Somehow, she felt the need to explain why she was so close to him. It probably felt awkward somehow to him, being trapped by a young teenage girl like this.

"I can't sleep alone. I have nightmares when I do," Arietta confessed into his shirt. But she assumed he already knew this.

He nodded once before cupping his chin over her head, again settling into a properly comfortable place with the girl. Funny, he'd already forgotten to be flushed and embarrassed about lying beside her this way. Perhaps that would come later.

"They happen to the best of us, you know. I suppose they're bred from our unhappiness. Lucky that we're content, then, ah?"

"Hmn..." another reply of agreement. Arietta couldn't think of anyone else who would do this with her and be comfortable about it.

Asch was territorial and got upset with Arietta the time she slipped in his bed. She figured Sora would get nervous and Riku obviously left the room when she fell asleep.

But unfortunate for Arietta, she didn't belong to Cain, not in a possessive sense. She had that tie with Riku and Sora, but if they couldn't ease her pain like Cain did...

[[I'm totally studying... yes I am. and asking... how old is Cain?]]
