Arietta felt the motion of being picked up, but didn't react to it no more than just shifting herself to be closer to the warmness of Cain. She body naturally reacted that way and there wasn't much she could consciously do about it.

Dreaming.

It was never pleasant when it was full of nightmares. It was also part of the reason why Arietta was afraid to sleep alone.

Without noticing the connection, when Cain got up, Arietta's dream took a downhill trip. That happiness she dreamed up was taken away from him because the warmth was removed. That's why Arietta's body desperately reached out for Cain again, so she could return to that happiness. But with his struggle of getting her to a bed, she couldn't exactly get to close to him, thus, the nightmare continued.

'Oh, I pity that poor child. Her parents were killed in the horrible tsunami. And she's so young too...'
'She'll be fine. She can summon animals I hear. She'll just end of up as a disowned, wild child.'
'Shh! Don't say that, she'll hear you...'

'Mommy...? Daddy...? Where are you? You can't leave me alone here.... I don't like it here.... where are you?!'

[[haha. that makes me happy. oyasumi nasai as I go off to study]]

It was strange, but he could almost feel her clinging to him, snuggling deeper against him as they moved. In annoyance he bit down on his lip and paused, hand leaving the doorknob to smooth Arietta's hair gently as he murmured soft soothing sounds against the side of her head.

But it was an awkward position. After a moment or two, he reached out once again to jingle the door, fumbling with it for an external catch. Lord only knew how he managed to finally jack it open (he suspected it must not have ever been properly closed to begin with, really). Carefully, making gentle noises again as he shifted the girl's weight, Cain moved them into the room, making a line for the bed to lay her down carefully.

[[ooc: I still have no idea what that means. :O Hope the studying went well!]]

'Mommy? Daddy?'
'Shut up child! Your parents are not here anymore. They're dead.'
'No... no! They said they would come back for me... they said...'
'You're cursed kid. No one wants you now.'
'I-... No! They wou-'

In her dream, Arietta ran. There was also a part of her that never wanted to face the truth. Almost always she ran away from the situation.

Since given her current position, she wasn't as close to Cain's warmth as she wanted to be. Unconsciously, the tears flowed faster and harder from her eyes. She was an only child, she had all the attention, affection, and comfort she wanted. But now, the reality was she was stripped from it. And now, in a dream, she was reminded.

Arietta's body felt the hand from Cain that comforted her fall upon her head.

Don't worry. Don't listen to those people. They don't know how truly special you are. You are still loved dear child.

Cain never walked into Arietta's life until now, but those sounded like they belonged to him.

Her cried softened at those words. In her dream, she had been crushed, so comforting words were the only hope she clung onto.

And then, the hand left again.

'You're not wanted here. words that made her crying continue.

[somehow i'm conscious right now... oh, it means goodnight. =] ]]

She needed to be loved. This was becoming clearer and clearer with every step he took. Kicking the door closed behind them, Cain moved as quickly as he dared to the bed, cradling her in his arms. Very gently he managed to settle her down onto the bed, sitting lightly beside her to smooth her hair back and brush lightly at her tears.

She would be cold.

Frowning, Cain attempted to reason through the situation. It would be improper to just lie down next to her. It would be cruel to move away completely while she was clearly having a nightmare. It was a dilema. Gnawing absently on his lower lip, the Brit sorted through his thoughts absently, trying to form a plan, leaning against Arietta slightly with one arm still around her waist, his other hand continuing to stroke her cheek gently.

'No... no one wants me?'
'I'm sorry Arietta, but I need to remove you from your title of Fon Master Guardian.'
'What...?!'

It was her, the girl who she had grown close with in the years. She's the one who stole the boy she loved from her. She walked beside him and smile. Smiled in Arietta's face because she knew she destroyed Arietta.

Anise.

In reality, the God General cried harder. Why couldn't be happy for an extended time? She was welcomed in by Van and Mohs to going the Order of Lorelei and the God Generals. She had finally settled and everything was happy.

Then she came along.

While Cain gently caressed her, she reached out for him. She needed that warmth to return to her.

Because of these nightmares, sleep was a fearful thing. Arietta would opt to sleep in the same room as Asch to feel some comfort but it wasn't enough. She needed someone right besides her, holding her, as she slept. Arietta knew it was the solution to her nightmares because when he was too much for her to handle, she slipped into the same bed with Asch. Unconsciously, he held her close, maybe to have another person near him as well. Once he was there, holding her, all her fear escaped.

The girl's slight movements were quite enough to indicate her desire. It was still inappropriate, bringing the faintest hint of a blush to Cain's cheeks. He was a strange duck that way; he didn't mind jumping into bed with strangers and whores, but blushed at the impropriety of cuddling a virtuous young woman in bed.

The Victorian era could do that to a person's mind.

Shaking his mores away (after all, they hardly stopped him from doing much worse things), he gave in and slipped down onto the bed properly. His arms snaked around her waist again, tugging her back against his chest and into the warmth of the embrace.

[[ooc: Poor Arietta is so much abused! She deserves long nightmare posts! xO How're you today, love? ^-^]]

That feeling... the feeling of the warmth returning.

It was back and her fears started to fade. The darkness was turning to light.

Arietta found herself at the ocean's edge. She was sitting on the sand, holding her stuffed animal to her chest. Looking at the ocean, she noticed the beautiful sunset before her.

Everything was calm and she let the wind carry her hair.

After her fears were calm and some time has passed, she shifted her weight to turn towards Cain, burying her face in his chest once again.

[[I think I make it more extreme then it means to be, but she lost her parents in a tsunami, her second 'mommy' was killed by the main character and his friends, she was stripped of her title of Fon Master Guardian, then she found out Ion died because of Anise, and because she faced Anise, she dies. I play her right before the point that she dies. Yeah, I amplify the horrors of her childhood a lot.

Ah yes, I'm okay. I fell asleep earlier and now I feel better. I'm actually going to do homework and study for my bio test. Wonderful! How are you? Oh, I randomly added you on MSN recently.]]

Well, this was fine, he supposed, cheeks still tinted ever-so-lightly red. If Arietta was more comfortable this way, he was hardly one to deny her the affection. With a tired smile Cain settled in, chin resting on the top of her head protectively as his eyes slipped shut again.

Not to sleep, mind. Just to be relaxed and comforting. His thoughts drifted absently from place to place, not settling on any one topic, avoiding his own hurt easily enough as he focused his energy on curling around the girl soothingly.

[[ooc: Poor baby. I was going to play Cain right before he's killed, but he's so damn angsty then that I decided to pull him back to right before half the people he loves die. The second time. He's quite emo enough then. They make good friends. >>;;

Glad to hear! I'll pop on MSN at some point tonight, now that the research paper's done and I have time for legit chatting.]]

This is how it should have been; the way she should have felt all her life. No one was ever there to provide her such feelings. Not even Van's promise to bring back her parents could give her this comfort and security.

Arietta sighed. Everything was okay now. She didn't want to worry about being reminded of her parents' death, Ion's death, and Anise. Subconsciously, she made a mental note to make Anise suffer... suffer more pain than Arietta has gone through.

Anise, to Arietta, had everything handed to her on a silver platter. Who cares if she was the youngest member in the Order? When Arietta was taken in, she had to work for everything. Everyone loved Anise, and no one loved Arietta; they just used her.

The feeling of security as returning. Arietta placed an arm around Cain and her other hand gripped his clothing. He would be unable to move in this state though, but it made Arietta feel a lot better.

[[well I can't chat just yet, I'm still reading for this quiz I have to take online for class. Once that's done with, I'd be honored to chat with you. Haha they would make for great friends.]]

At least he was comfortable. That had to count for something. It was stange to be almost trapped this way, clearly with the best intentions. His smile smoothed into a contented little grin, cuddling closer where he could and letting the situation be what it was.

Cain found that it was getting slowly harder and harder to prevent himself from falling asleep again. He sighed lightly and forced his eyes open again. After all, he was useless if he became trapped in his own nightmare. They'd been more frequent since arriving here.

Then again, the nap in the hallway had yielded sleep rather than agony. Perhaps there was something to this whole cuddling thing which induced pleasant dreams. Perhaps he'd find out. It depended purely on how long the girl needed to sleep.

[[ooc: I'll pop on later this evening. :3]]

This could be seen as Arietta's true self. All the time, she had to be strong, so no one ever worried about her. She didn't want to be pitied unnecessarily for her past. She had gotten enough of that on the Isle of Feres. Arietta was either cursed or looked down upon.

Now settling her feelings, the flow of tears were being slower. They would probably come to a halt soon, since Arietta found herself content with this feeling of comfort and affection. The things Cain told her that she deserved and they were the things no one gave her after her parents died.

[[Alright. hopefully, I'll be free then =] And Cain might as well fall back asleep. haha]]

He was losing. Losing badly. Sleep had warmth and a snuggle on its side, so really it wasn't even a fair fight to begin with. Cain managed to shake his head slightly in amusement at himself. Really, now; fighting with sleep like a child before Christmas was supposed to? It was silly.

There was no way he'd dream about anything unpleasant here.

Brushing a light kiss across the top of Arietta's hair, he let himself go, drifting into a dreamless state of rest. He was sure he'd wake the second she moved, but for the moment at least he could let himself relax.

So the both of them would dream, together then.

In her dream, Arietta took off her boots and stood up. She walked towards the water and decided to get her feet wet.

The water and sand felt good beneath her feet.

And somehow, there was a presence behind her.

[[omg I just realized I NEVER REPLIED! I fail...!!!]]

It was strange; he'd been dreaming of Riff almost every night. Now his imagination drifted absently between quiet points without faces. A moment sitting in the window with a cup of tea, a flash of country going by in the carriage window, the flick between pages as he leafed through an old volume from the library.

The sensation was warm and homey. Warmer than home, of course, given that London was a foggy, chilly place and this bed was all but heated by the comfortable positioning of bodies.

[[ooc: It's all good. ♥ ]]

The presence, hugged her from behind. They placed their arms around her shoulders and rested their head on top of Arietta. She seemed to smile. This person was never in her dreams before.

Part of her wanted to be content and not move and the other part wanted to find out who it was. This feeling felt so comfortable and natural.

[[how long should they dream for? I'm really interested in Cain's dream]]

When his imagination finally settled, it was on the basement. He could see each and every bottle on the wall, remember what each of them had in them and how to make the exact strengths.

In his dream, his hand reached out to pick up the little green bottle. She would be coming for it soon. It made him sigh softly in reality, fingers curling a little tighter into Arietta's sleeve. He didn't want her to come. He wanted instead to stay here, among his bottles and poisons and the soft tinkling noises of chemicals bubbling not three feet from the base of the wall.

[[ooc: However long. Cain's dream will probably get unhappy soon, which will wake him up, though.]]
