Water bending is a challenge for Azula, but she doesn't give up. She never gives up. She works at it with a single-mindedness that pleases her master.
Eventually it clicks and she grows by leaps and bounds, quickly becoming a skilled bender. She even takes lessons from the healers aware that they could come in handy.
It's a bad move on her part.
Girls begin to notice her/him and his/her prodigious talent though she has little to offer for any of their hands.
At eighteen the chief summons her to talk about marriage. He's begun to think of Polu as something of an adopted son.
She immediately request to travel to the South Pole to continue the search for 'Polu's' family.
