Jason Godesky (the main guy behind the Anthropik site) has a ton of great content on there (i especially enjoy his 30 Theses of primitivism).
as for this article...it was funny, i caught a Colbert yesterday in which he (in full Imperial Legionary regalia) interviewed the guy who wrote that book, Are We Rome? and they discussed how one of the ways in which we are indeed similar to rome is that whole strategy of the client state: as long as the local despot is doing what we want, he can do whatever he wants to his own people. it's really an age old imperial strategy: Persians, Romans, Brits, us
