The book
I can’t help feeling that, if I’d just got a tiny bit more sleep this week, I could actually be over my cold now. True, I feel better than I did last weekend, but I know it’s just a matter of time before another illness is going to stroll in through the revolving door, while my immune system stands by, picking its nose and reading the ( Read more... )

Although i haven't been to the Dev THAT often, i really like it the way it was and am really shocked to hear what you've just written. EEk.
Yeah, there's a lot more gothy stuff in Germany, i guess that's kind of to be expected because there are a lot more Goths. But still.

Also love the new episode of The Boosh even if i did have to watch it on Youtube!!!

Well yeah, that's what it's all about unfortunately, demographics and profit margins. That and property prices/wages/overheads in most parts of Germany are lower than here.

I wonder if, when the next government census is due, people would put 'goth' as their religion? Maybe that way we could get funding to build a permanant temple? No, wait, that would probably be awful!

I think the next episode's already watchable on the BBC site too, but I'd rather wait for next Thursday and see it on a proper-sized screen.

One would hope so. However, I think the laws of economics dictate the city will eventually be one gigantic sports lounge for tourists with a 'How Well Do You Know teh Crown Jewels' quiz machine.

I think we need somebody to come along and open up their home as an unlicensed speak-easy-type alternative pub, complete with a little sliding shutter on the door to see who's outside. It would probably be a horrible disaster from the start, but might at least be good for the plot of a mediocre comedy film.

Oh great another good pub is now ruined for all time. I now defiantly want to win the lottery so I can open up a goth pub/club.

The same people could keep going but if the music changes too much then the whole feel of the place will change and then the same people would stop going.

Yeah, I hope too!

Admittedly, all the information I wrote above has so far come out of other people's Livejournals; I've not been in the Dev in person since last week, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed this is all just an elaborate game of LJ Chinese whispers! I did try devcamden.co.uk earlier, but their server couldn't cope with the high volume of traffic.

Mark could be right though. There aren't any other such well-established alt pubs in Camden, but if the music changes then inevitably some of the crowd will too and I just hope my own circle of friends stay the course!
