[In various places of the DR, there are two paint pails full of a substance that looks similar to blue paint. There are no labels on the tins or anything else that could indicated what they really are. Well, nothing else except for one thing -- there is a splotch of blue "paint" on the ground and an object bouncing on it. It won't stop bouncing ( Read more... )

[A fascinated Momo often stops to watch the objects bouncing on the gel. She has never seen such a curious substance before...]

You should try jumping on it, [he says from behind her.

He's bouncing a banana on the ground.]

Gotta ask right quick: do you want their Morning After thread to be canon? pinkutau June 8 2011, 02:35:16 UTC
[Momo quickly turns to face him with a startled gasp - but she relaxes once she recognizes him. Her attention immediately goes to the banana he's dribbling.]

I'm not so sure...

*looking back up to him* Is it safe?

sure, why not. |3 donereasoning June 8 2011, 17:45:45 UTC
It depends on your landing.

Thank you, thank you. ^_^ pinkutau June 8 2011, 18:03:49 UTC
[...On the one hand, could be fun. On the other, could hurt someone. Could hurt herself. And she wouldn't really know what she's doing, so...]

I don't think I should try today, Kaito-san.

That's too bad. [Darn, no experimentation.]

Well...it's just that I could hurt someone too easily. I weigh considerably more than a banana or a stone.

There is also a possibility that you wouldn't hurt anyone at all, and you will have missed a chance to satisfy your curiosity.

[...Well damn, you had to go and put it like that. Maybe she could try this out in an empty building or something, like she'd planned to do with the Toyota Mech? Come to think of it, whatever happened to that suit? Didn't she bring it to Luka-san before?

But this wasn't the same thing. Even if she removed the danger to others, she could still potentially damage herself by overestimating the gel. Worse yet, what if she achieved enough velocity to break through the walls or ceiling, and land back among the populace? To say nothing of the potential harm to her own body...

...

Perhaps, then, it would be alright if she were careful. Maybe.]

[Aw, heck, let's just ask.]

If I wanted to...what precautions would I need to take?

[He smirks and holds the banana still. Making sure she's watching, without telling her to, he drops it from a waist-high level. It bounces a few times, only coming up as high as his waist.

He grabs it again, and this time drops it from shoulder-height. It bounces, only coming up to his shoulders. The gel will only bounce her from whatever height she initially jumped from. She could use that information to control how she bounced, if she was so inclined.]

[So the object will not be propelled higher than its original drop point. That certainly eases some worries.]

I see. Then, all I have to do is interrupt the cycle if I want to stop myself?

Figure that out for yourself.

[Telling her the solution to everything wasn't exactly something he could do, anyway.]

Everything is dangerous. This is no exception.

...I understand that, but this is an unknown substance. If I try to meddle with it, the consequences could be severe.
