GFP (and in a shocking turn of events, the f is for franz)

I think I mentioned that I had one last picture-with-the-band to post from last Wednesday? this is it, and I'm not cutting it and you'll just have to live. after the gig, after the badassery, I asked Nick for a picture to commemorate the occasion and he dragged me over to Alex and:

I'm not a photo person, so this is complete layperson terms.

I like the second one in the first set because it hurts my eyes less. The lighting is so bright in the top one that I can't focus on anything else. The second one is more subtle without being less "light." If that makes any sense at all.

In the second set, I think I like the second one again. Although this one was a lot harder for me to decide. And, I can't tell you why.

Also, your picture....WAY cute.

i agree with the person above. the first one has too many lights. it's unfortunate but i don't think the picture is salvable because in your 'after' picture, the faces are even darker. maybe if you up the contrast and twiddle with highlights/shadows? i can't really tell which one is better in the second photo. not really any improvement. too much flaring and the strumming hand is kinda distracting. there's too much obstructions in the second photo in general-- the mike, and the light right behind his head. is there another picture you can focus on?

the fangirl picture is so adorable. alex's face looks like the one in your banner. nick... looks unfortunately bucktooth! how can such a pretty man make bad pictures like that?!

blehhhhh. I know you and thechairguy are right, I just don't want to admit it. :-p I think I'm coming from a different place with the first one because it was *so* overexposed to start with, and this is a huge improvement from that... which of course no one else has seen. it's also my only Alex/Nick picture for the time being so I don't want to cut it? I've got like eight adjustment layers going on in the PSD -- Nick's guitar, Nick's head and right arm, all of Nick, all of Alex. (and of course the more I futz with things, the more I notice the noise, and the picture's not really sharp enough to totally go to town with NN.) I may start from scratch one more time tonight just to see if I can do it. I'm learning a lot, even if the results are meh ( ... )

oh and the buckteeth -- this is the picture that made ursamajr think he got his teeth done. I still need to find a good 'before' picture for comparison.

yeah... you guys are right, aren't you? :-p I'm picking up some new tricks in fiddling with these, which is good, even if the end result right now isn't fantastic. I've been really resisting the idea of tossing the Nick/Alex picture because it's the only one I can share for now. I also still have a thing about wanting a nice full album, even though I know rationally that it's better to have fewer pictures that are all pretty good.

Haha! Your photo is greatness.

About the other two, like other people have said, both of the second versions are less painful to the eyes, but the difference it's not that big, either.

Hehe, the one of you is great.
In the first set, I like the second, the maniped one. Particularly the light on the left edge has been toned down, which is nice.
In the second... I can't immediately tell what you've changed, which is good, but there's something about the color quality of the top one that draws me more than the maniped second one. So I'm not sure.

the first one is getting better, but it's still not there yet. I don't think I can actually get it where it needs to be -- the lighting is just too stupid. I'm learning a lot messing around with it though.

I pulled some of the blue out of the second one, so that'll explain it. it's funny, it looked like a much more drastic change in Photoshop. I may futz with it a bit more, but I've got other pics of him that were pretty much ready to go when I shot them, so meh.

I forgot how hard this stuff is! :-p
