"I've had worse," Dean said, through gritted teeth. He concentrated on why he was doing this, what it meant. That helped a lot.

Karal winced, but he knew that the pain would help. A sacrifice always had to be made, and this was Dean's. He couldn't help wondering what his would be. "It is working," he said quietly.
