It seems a lifetime since....(Update)

March is now officially the cruelest month. Or the busiest maybe. Hello! I've been writing and been sick and been working and other things. Have an update...

I chaperoned a group of middle school boys to Washington D.C. to see the Terra Cotta Warrior exhibit at the National Geographic Museum.
I didn't even know there was a National Geographic Museum! )

school, health, writing, dogs, birthdays, work, real life

I'd love to see that exhibit. I wonder if it will make its way to the West Coast.

Your dog is adorable. Re: naming. I think I'd stick with Rufus. (Devo. Whip it. Ha Ha.)

I'm looking forward to your post on writing.

I'm pretty sure this was the last stop for the exhibition. :( I'd love to go again before it closes here end of the month, but it doesn't seem likely.

You don't like Devo? Really, the consensus seems to be Rufus. I just keep picturing some big ol' bloodhound when I hear that name.

I envision a series of light pieces on writing (how ambitious/self-important is that?!) I've written two, but I seem to be in a 'reluctant poster' mood lately. Then the little pieces, and the stories, pile up and I start to worry about dumping things on people. Sigh.

The temple of Dendur was one of my favorite places at the Met, although I dearly loved that fountain. It was a black rough-hewn block set in a square of water-rounded grey pebbles. The water came up through a small hole in the center of the slab and bubbled up so slowly that you couldn't actually see it. The water cascaded over the sides and fell in sheets onto the pebbles. All so slow there was little sound and only a subtle sense of movement.

I think it's going to be Rufus. I have warned the boys not to shorten it to Roofie altho it may be inevitable. Devo does stand for devolution but is also a band, hit song 'Whip It'. (I've resorted to punning dog names! Oh noes!)
