Weather problems

Jul 06, 2012 14:21

Hi, my dears, I was wrong. This monsoon-like weather really turned nasty yesterday and caused really serious damage everywhere in CR , from local floods to damaged rails, fallen trees and fields harvested by hail. And a massive electricity blackout.
We are safe here in Spolí, damage minimal in comparison with general situation though I cried over my ( Read more... )

You keep safe indoors love. Sensible you to have candles AND a lamp.

These storms and wierd weather systems are beginning to worry me... they are so 'irrational' and bizarre... Just simply not - right.

I hope it isn't a presage for the years to come!! Our potatoes have all rotted in the ground, - tomatoes ditto... and the haricot beans aren't going to flower I don't think they are twice as tall as they should be and all leaf!!! The courgette has given up and collapsed and the rest of the garden can be dismissed. awful.

BUT today the first swallows have come home. They have been hiding somewhere since the 15th April when they always come, but I haven't seen them flying around normally until today... then they sat allten of them, on the phone wires. And are dashing about between the roofs here. It is almost sunny!!!!

Take care dear Vee, and of each other.

So far so good - only minor fireworks and rain but it is still so hot and the humidity is awful - this doesn´t belong here in central Europe!
Ah, your swallows are back, this means luck and the world returned to normal!
I hope your summer arrived with them!
I am almost sure that our summer will exhaust itself now and August will be like autumn...
I agree with you about that bizarre weather this year!xxx

So pleased that you are safe. *Hugs*

The weather is crazy everywhere it seems! Here, having said we had a drought in many areas inclusing this one and that the use of hosepipes was banned, the Authorities sat back and it began to rain... and rain... and rain. We have had the wettest April and June on record and half of May was wet. July has started off raining every day too and there are flood warnings in many areas.

OH yes, crazy is the right word , dear mooms! Thank you very much, so far no problems but the character of the weather hasn´t changed. We must stay alert - remove everything that can fly from outside and watch open windows.
Here extremely cold and dry periods change into tropical temperatures with everything soaked...
The warnings are in a full operation here too.
I hope nothing threatens you?
*Hugs*

It seems our weather is mirroring yours but not quite so bad. No power cuts yet bu flood warnings for Wales and the North of England. The news this morning warned us that we were likely to get one months rain in the next 24 hours. I have never felt so grateful to be living on a steep hill with two deep steps up to the front door. As the war time slogan says Keep calm and carry on, it's all we can do.

Oh and the lunch time news had some one from the Met Office to explain the bad weather. It's the gulf stream, it's to far south.

This reminds me about the heavy rain we had in June a few years back. The roof was off the house in London and I came back to find my bed had had a big leak above it.

I woke early to hear rain drumming extremely heavily on the roof this morning. Molly Hamster had been moving her cage contents around a lot so she knew something was coming.

No leaks in my flat, but when I walked past the one on the end of my row they had the curtains down and a ladder up to the roof. I am presuming they'd got a leak.

Hi, I know it is my friend Quarryquest:-)
Yes, you have your Hamster Warning! My animals are both too domesticated, they just wait for me to warn THEM:-) and then I am shouting to call Tygr in the rain and storm because our royal highness won´t listen to MOther Nature.
I hope your flat remains safe. No Leaks!!!!:-)

Ah, so the Gulf Stream has shifted, well, humble humans we are!
Well, I can understand your gratefulness about the position, it is what I envy to everyone here - our house is situated very nicely by the lake but when the floods come, we are the first to be endangered...
Soooo...it seams the weather distribution will be bad all the time...:-(
