Can refrigerated margarine go bad, and if so, how long would that take?

Yes it can, and there should be a best-before date on the packaging. It's usually a couple of months.

As long as it hasn't been contaminated, margarine has a somewhat indefinate lifespan when kept at 50o or below. If your fridge is above 50, then it can go bad in a week or two.

You could always ask the little man that lives in your fridge that turns the light on and off when you open and close the door.

Also, randomly. My parents' walkin closet does that, it's the neatest thing.
