Mastodon would be my pick out of those three. I'm not too into Dream Theater, though, and all but actively dislike Tool.

Putting Tool and Mastodon on the same level is like...well, I don't even know if I can think of something as offensive. It'd be like comparing the Clash and Green Day, kind of. Tool are so juvenile and not-to-be-taken-seriously. Mastodon...rule. Plus, Mastodon are so much more metal than either of those two bands. Plus, if you're going to listen to wanky prog, listen to King Crimson. Or maybe Yes. Or Genesis.

That's my several cents.
