Hello twin. I backed into a parked car as I exited a driveway this week. First fender bender since I was 18.

And I hear you about new cars crumpling. My car is very old. It didn’t even have a scratch. The car I backed into, it’s entire side door crumpled in. It doesn’t even seem possible. My Mom said maybe someone else ran into it before me???

I hear newer cars are designed to crumple more, to take and shift more of the impact into and through themselves to protect their passengers.

I remember many years ago when I was driving my '88 Topaz down a narrow street one night and inadvertently hit a newer parked car's side mirror with my side mirror. The Topaz's mirror casing barely had scratch on it, but the impact had ripped the other car's mirror off.
