I'm not saying that the whole situation wasn't something completely manipulated, and not completely convincingly, into place by the writers, who ran roughshod over prior characterizations to do it. Just that the situation, as manipulated, makes me completely understand why Wes acted as he did.
These are my thoughts on his thoughts. He might have been wrong. Then again, this crew of characters has shown itself to be very petty on occasion....
My thinking on this subject may be overly influenced by Farscape...zvi_likes_tvApril 25 2002, 14:27:26 UTC
If someone says they have a plan in Farscape, things are about to go bugfuck. They just are. It is the way of their universe.
Likewise, in Angel, if someone keeps a secret, it's going to come back and bite *everybody* on the ass. Witness this week's episode. Witness TOGOM. The only secret I can think of where the secret-keeping didn't get everyone in serious trouble was Cordy and the seriousness of the Vision pain, and that was solved with interference from TPTB.
Now, my characters on Farscape *know* that a plan is a bad sign. Which doesn't mean they've stopped making them, but they realize that it's a sign of impending crisis or doom, and will most likely be subject to revision upon implementation, unless it's version 3 or 4 of the plan.
I want the Angel characters to figure out that Secrets are Bad. For them. I realize, in the real world, that occasionally, it is better if we practice not oversharing. But if you work for Angel Investigations: Secrets are Bad. Particularly: Bad Mystical Secrets are Very Very Bad
