So glad that I asked and you answered! Going to check out your NOLA-related links and at some point share tales of my NOLA experiences (including the disastrous Amtrak ride which has made me decide to go to NOLA by plane next year).

I wrote them up as I was there so all the details were fresh, and I'm glad to have them now since I enjoyed reading them and reminiscing to write this post. I hope you enjoy them too.

My Amtrak round trip sucked--in "Journey Plus Destination" Ray breaks down my reasons for not wanting to take a long train ride ever again after it--but "disastrous"? Now I'm curious!

Longer story later, but I won't keep you wondering about the "disastrous" part. On the famous City of New Orleans train from Chicago we were involved in a collision when a truck tried to race our train across the tracks.

The trip and photo are old enough that the image was originally shot on film then scanned into a computer to give me the jpg that I'd eventually make the userpic from. I went through ten rolls of film on my 2001 New Orleans trip.
