Usually I curse the annual Summer Streets thing as yet another stupid idea from the people who carved up roads to make "pedestrian plazas" and made many streets convoluted with bizarre bike lanes, but this year I actually have a plan to use it. I love it. Every night shoot I drive into Manhattan for I drive through the Helmsley Building and along the viaduct just because it's so cool. (Also the in-the-Helmsley-Building part is fun at night because they never replaced the lights in there, making it a somewhat dark ride with reflective signs as your guide. *g*)

I just found out something fun that I think you'd appreciate. Do you remember that building I showed you on Fashion's Night Out that had a classical stone bottom and a crazy tall modern skyscraper rising out of it? It turns out that it was always meant to be a stone base with a skyscraper rising out of it, but the Great Depression postponed the making of the skyscraper part... for nearly 80 years! Though I doubt the original skyscraper design in the late 1920s looked like what they ended up with recently.
