The Way It Never Was

I haven't seen Iron Man 2, but I noticed the Unisphere in the commercials. It turns out that the movie digitally recreated and updated Flushing Meadows Corona Park World's Fair pavilions as well as the New York State Pavilion. (There's a Stark Expo 2010 website with some fun stuff on it.)

I was over there yesterday and took some photos, mostly at ( Read more... )

Awesome pictures. The Unisphere one reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Bart, Martin, Nelson and Milhouse go on a road trip to a long-shut World's Fair in Nebraska and find the globe has become a wig factory *g*

That's not a family of ducklings, that's a swarm!! Over here, freshwater turtles/tortoises thin the numbers a bit...

btw- don't know if you've seen it yet, here's SUPERNATURAL's kick-ass introduction of Julian Richings as Death:

I was surprised by how many ducklings there were too, though Meadow Lake has a lot of people feeding the various ducks, geese, and seagulls that show up.

I see the episode. Julian Richings was great. In a disappointing season that has given me low expectations, Death was a rare high point of a great actor with interesting writing.

I hate it when I see people feeding duck, geese, swans etc. It actually hurts them- they're not meant to eat bread, and it fills their stomachs and stops them from eating the grasses and invertebrates they get nutrition from. Plus old bread on the bottom of the pond gets eaten and they get salmonella...

*perfect* casting. And at least SUPERNATURAL acknowledges its slashy fan base (ie Dean to Castiel: "The last time someone looked at me like that, I got laid") *g*
