The Lost Boys is only #5?

Also: In this case, at least, all of the homoerotic subtext lurking just beneath the surface (and sometimes prominently above it) seems to be a strange, misguided attempt to appeal to the young women who this film was plainly aimed at.Strange? Misguided? This ( Read more... )

Having seen Nightmare on Elm Street II, I can say it makes Lost Boys look as straight as...well, a penis entering a vagina.

I saw Nightmare on Elm Street II so long ago that I barely remember anything about it, but if it makes The Lost Boys look that straight it must really be something.

It's awful. And fairly homoerotic, though not perhaps as gay as you're expecting now.

If I saw it it would be on the cheap. I know you're surprised.

Yeah, I never would have guessed. I mean, I've watched worse bad movies.

Hmm. I'm tempted by The Covenant too, now. And Forsaken is a very gay movie, for sure and no mistaking. But not one mention of David DeCoteau and his colour-coded underwear? Voodoo Academy should have at least rated a mention.

Forsaken definitely is. I never saw Voodoo Academy.

It's worth a look if you see it in a budget bin. Basically Decoteau has directed a whole slew of low-budget horror movies which ooze subtext, and frankly are only a step or two away from being gay porn. Almost any excuse will do to have pretty young men running around in their underwear, which is, I kid you not, colour-coded: tight white for the good guys, silky black for the bad guys, and green-striped boxers for the solitary rugged individualist.
