I felt like I was being beaten to death by the screamingly obvious music cues. You can tell the Stargate people haven't had much practice using non-instrumental songs in their episodes.
Totally. I first thought "The Beautiful People" was a witty riff on how the first Wraith Queen looked like Manson's femmebot persona, but then one thuddingly obvious lyrical choice followed another. (Though I was cackling throughout every play of "Solitary Man" because I know it better done by Neil Diamond, which gives the whole thing a different spin for me.)
I thought this episode had the potential to be good or at least fun, but I quickly saw that they weren't parodying CSI, just aping it very badly.

That was exactly my problem with it. I kept thinking that the writers were so sick of their own show and in such a hurry to write for a different one that they didn't even wait for SGU, they just started writing CSI instead.
