Grand Tour

Thorn and I met in Manhattan for a fun afternoon out that had some surreal moments. Our meet-up place was Astor Place Station, and as I waited for her two different people asked me for directions in 10 minutes. I told them where to go. Not like that. So if you're in Manhattan and see a redheaded young woman and feel an inescapable urge to ask her ( Read more... )

Hey,

Bananas and Gorillas for the win!

The Mime dummies look so much like Autons I am ascared.

:hugs for your bad news: hope it's surmountable and that you surmount it...

Mime Autons! Far worse.

Uhm, the letter says that the private insurer that's been giving me some disability money to keep me afloat is thinking I'm not actually so disabled that I can't work full-time. What are headaches and dizziness to them? They mentioned a 15-day time period in which neurosurgeon #1 and neurologist #2 can provide compelling evidence that I'm serious. They don't say when that 15-day period started in the letter, which is dated January 18 but I received on the 26th. Monday I'm going to try to get The Chiari Institute's input in there and hope it makes a difference, because otherwise I get money this month "in good faith" but next month will have no income at all.

I'm having trouble sleeping as we speak from thinking about it.

Mimes are scarier than Autons and the Blink Angels combined!

My advice- hit your Flist for a good lawyer. Does the USA have the equivalent of the Consumer Protection Society? If all else fails, contact the media with your story... that usually makes idiotic beaurocrats back down...

I will never know why they dressed up as bananas, but they added a fine touch of whimsy to my day.

I've got a possible answer for your bananas. CSI: NY had an episode that featured the "Idiot Run" (which apparently pissed these people off), and it's a shopping cart race where four people pull and one "drives" in costume. Anyway, there was a race yesterday. It's actually called Idiotarod. http://www.idiotarodnyc.com/

I've heard of the Idiotarod but never thought to connect it to the bananas and gorilla. They must not have started the race proper yet because only one banana manned the cart on the street.

Thanks!

The bananas and the gorilla made me LOL. And your narration. "To get on the subway, of COURSE!" Ah, to live in NY.

It has its moments!

The time I met Te near Madison Square Garden and we wandered through a flock of small girls all dressed like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz walking on the sidewalk was a time I wished I had my camera with me.

Ah, Strand and it's filing system! Probably the same one that they use in govermental offices! *snerk*

Also, pretty cool bananas. I am sorry I've missed them!

Yeah, they wandered by about 10 minutes before you arrived.

Oh, I bought a cheap 2-year planner at Wal-Mart for $2.78, so don't worry about getting me one.

Oh, yay, you!

Does it have kittens on it?

It does!

The interior paper is thinner than in the brand we saw, but at half the price I'm not going to complain much.
