“Yes, Kazuya,” Taguchi says, his eyes wide and earnest, his hands warm around Kamenashi’s cold ones, “But are you happy?”
2. AU
“It’s that stupid chemist girl,” Kamenashi shouts. “She’s ruining everything. You know that she is.” His fists clench. “You aren’t supposed to love her.”
Taguchi just stares, wondering if Ri realized that she would be crossing an ocean to break a heart. Wondering if she would have stayed in California if that were the case. Wondering if he even has the right to reach forward and hold Kamenashi’s hand.

“SPARKLES!” Taguchi shouted gleefully, throwing confetti in the air. “THEY SPARKLE.”
Kamenashi stared. “Yes, Taguchi,” he said. “They do.”
“SPARKLES SPARKLE SPARKILY!”

Rebecca stares back. “Yes,” she agrees quietly. “But I don’t like your method. At all.”

“Your brother’s taken over the world and you need me to help?’
“I don’t need your help,” Sherlock snapped.
“Right.” Rebecca grabbed her phone. “No, I suppose you wouldn’t. But it would be useful, wouldn’t it, having a mage with you.” She gave him a quick once-over. “Still not magical?”
“Don’t need it,” Sherlock retorted. “Now hurry up, we need to meet John before he thinks I’ve been murdered.”
