Well, it is a load of overblown nonsense, but it held my interest, which is unusual for a thriller, and the bits about the Priory of Sion and the Kinghts Templar were fascinating, as well as the stuff about the Grail which I've always been curious about. Yep, Sir Ian stole the movie. :D

I enjoyed it, though it did suffer from having to get across a ton of exposition at the expense of developing the characters. Only Ian's scholar gave us a glimpse of his inner self. Alas, Paul Bettany was kind of wasted, but I was very favorably impressed by his unclothed derriere. :D

The flashbacks didn't bother me much. My favorite was the double exposure effect of seeing Newton's contemporaries at the same time Hanks & Tatou were entering Westminster Abbey.

Mainly, it seemed like much ado about nothing, though. It seems to me that Jesus could still be considered divine even if he'd had a child by a mortal woman. Am I missing something here?

LOL, yes, Paul Bettany gets his kit off AGAIN - there's a surprise :D

I don't know if you're missing anything, but it seems to me that it would have been more unusual if Jesus WASN'T married with children, particularly in that time period - and my husband who's a devout Catholic agrees with me. I kind of like the idea, myself - but that's probably because I have a problem with the way the Catholic church views women, which is a whole nother discussion :D
