I always wonder, how did they manage not to drown in those swimsuits. Probably didn't actually swim in them, just walked in the water?

That's what I was thinking about their corsetry. I'll bet wet knit stockings felt just awful.

I think they just went 'wading'. That's the reason they are called bathing suits, not swim suits. But they are a lot less bulky than some I saw that were from 50 years earlier.
