Unknown-James Abresch

Jul 01, 2011 23:12

I got a wedding album from the 1940's in a free box at a yard sale. In the back of it was this print. It's stamped on the back "Kindly Give credit to James Abresch." I've tried to find out more about him but all I've been able to find is that he took portraits of famous people. Does anyone know who the woman in this picture is?

You all need to watch more classic Hollywood movies. It's not Clara Bow, Greta Garbo, Betty Grable, Lillian Gish, or Joan Crawford. It's not Jean Harlow, Loretta Young, Olivia De Havilland, Carole Lombard, or Barbara Stanwyck. It's not even any of the Lane Sisters.

Definitely not Lauren Bacall or Gene Tierney. It's plaguing me because she looks so familiar. I had to go to my father, consummate classic movie buff, and he thought perhaps Audrey Totter or Adele Mara (who was in the Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne.) It's difficult to tell from a glammed up headshot, because people can look so different depending on lighting and make-up.

I will be on the look-out in the future! ;)
