Man, fencing was a blast yesterday! The instructors are teaching some people to judge matches, so they divided the class up into groups of two or three. The group I was in only had one person, and she's really good. So I didn't have to spend the whole time taking it easy on some kid. There was actually some competition! Here's something that I did a couple years ago. I got the idea from a story my sister told me from when she worked at a library. Her coworker joked that he wanted to get a big tattoo of an octopus battling a squirrel with a laser gun. No tracing involved, all done by hand. I spent the last few days making this. It consists of an HP flash drive, copper wire wrapped around the ends, a spring with a red wire covering in it, a spring with copper inside, a Quartz battery watch movement, and a watch gear. I drove for about an hour to the Gerald R. Ford Museum, to see this mysterious instrument. I've been hunting around the internet a long time for a picture of Raffles and Bunny that I really like. So finally, I settled for this one.

On the far left we have two brass cuff links with identical watch gears tediously glued on. Next I give you my pride and joy; a ring which is sculpted from 20 and 16 gauge steel wire which holds in place a watch movement.
