Has anyone had any experience working on commission? I just had an interview, and it wasn't what I thought it was going to be at all. It's an independent agent position for selling insurance, and income is based solely on commission. It'd would be 13 weeks of training (that you get semi-paid for) and I'd also have to spot 140 bucks to get licensed ( Read more... )

I've never dealt with commission as my whole income. Only bonuses and it was hard enough.
I do have a friend in AZ who was a car salesman but he quit less than two weeks ago. Said it was too competitive.

Hi Allison, glad to hear you're getting interviews. Been there, did that, not too long ago. Here's what I think. When I knew you back in the day (granted, I haven't seen you in some time), I gotta say - insurance agent is the last thing I'd have imagined you interviewing for, much less working as. You strike me more as a free spirit. (But hey, who's to say that insurance doesn't appeal to free spirits? I'm not replying here to say you should conform to some idea I had of you back in the day ( ... )
