Rangitoto oil painting

Aug 01, 2010 18:24

I went to another oil-painting class this week. It's a pity it wasn't in August or it could count for naarmamo which starts today. Oh well, all my August stuff will be with graphics software including experimenting with Artrage.

I love this, I would happily hang it on my wall.

Thank you! I'll have to work out where to hang it and the poppies on mine! Time to take down some prints, I think. I do have some originals from a local artist and it would be nice to have all "real" ones.

What a beautiful painting. :) It certainly makes me yearn for some sun, sand and tranquility. Well done. :)

Edit - in fact I like it so much I'm meming this page. :)

It's a classic Auckland eastern bays beach scene and means summer to me with the pohutukawas. It's only a few minutes away from home, but not so tranquil in summer when there are lots of people. :-)

I wish I lived only a few minutes from the sea. :) Still at least living in the UK means that the sea is only a couple of hours drive away at the most. I would detest living in the middle of say the USA, & couldn't get to it without getting on a flight.

You're never that far from the sea here either. I wish I could see it from our house, but I can see some from the top of our driveway. :-)

That is gorgeous... what a lovely place to go for a break, and how beautifully you've portrayed it.

It's not really a break, being a few minutes away, and very popular in summer. It's one of Auckland's eastern bays, like the one where I took the air attack photos. :-) You can see the ends of Rangitoto in the first photo and this one.

ROCK ON, that is fantastic. Love the texture of the waves - love it all! *g*
Aw, Rangitoto, I miss it so. Must go and see it when Summer finally comes along.

Thank you!

Where are you, then? Wellington, I thought? That's a long way to come to see old Rangitoto!

That's a very pretty picture, and seeing it this morning just makes me happy! It looks serene, like someone should be picnicking just out of sight beneath the tree, enjoying the clear day and cool breezes.

Like a lot of us do in summer. :-) Ice creams at Mission Bay!
