Chavez corroborates that Novak was unconscious and bleeding from the nose on his arrival. They had called for an ambulance, taken Novak into custody, and then the hospital told them nothing was physically wrong with him except maybe low blood pressure and unusually high iron content in his blood and perhaps they should do a CAT scan? But that turned out unnecessary when Novak woke up all on his own

Two things immediately bother Jason: the first is what Novak says to him

Jason takes a moment to think; he decides to try a different tack. "When the officers took you into custody, they found this in your coat pocket." He reaches into his own pocket and pulls out Novak's wedding ring. "I did some digging before I came. You've got a lovely wife. Cute daughter, too."

Novak looks at the wedding ring briefly. "Amelia is not my wife."

"Because you're Castiel, right?" Miller leans back. "Look, James, you can stop pretending. I know about the 'schizophrenic break' before you took off--" he puts air quotes around the phrase. "--But you're making a common mistake. Dissociative disorder - multiple personality disorder - isn't the same thing. Nice try, though."

But Novak's brows lower and draw together. "I'm not mentally ill," he snaps. "My ves--Jimmy was not mentally ill, either." Then Novak's face clears and the faint beginnings of a smirk appears on his lips. "A common mistake, believing the voices of angels to be figments of the imagination
