"Too slow!" aka Vikki Really Loves Dissidia!Zidane

How much do I love that Dissidia!Zidane's taunt (or one of them, at least) is 'osoi yo!' Could be translated as 'too slow!' or 'you're late!' I haven't listened to the English (I'm sure it will break my heart), but I'll bet it's translated as "You're too slow!" with a horrible Bronx accent. XD

I have a confession to make: I have never played FF9. I know who Zidane is, but it's a game I've just never got around to. *shame*

Also, I believe you promised Japan pics at some point and I am yet to see any evidence of them, which makes me Very Sad Indeed. If this persists, I might have to resort to nagging.

Aww, it's okay! FF9 is the rejected stepchild of Final Fantasy games, primarily looked upon as a step back for its typical storyline and fairy tale roots. It was also the last FF put out for the PS1, the chibi!characters were a huge turn-off, and the PS2 was looming on the horizon like a death sentence. But I have a huge soft spot for ridiculous medieval-esque settings (well, more Rennaissance than anything), I unexpectedly found the main character absolutely the most endearing thing ever, and the happy ending makes me really happy.

My roommate's boyfriend loves FF9. He keeps telling me I should play it because it's seriously underrated.

And, re: Japan: I actually totally understand. I'm pretty bad about doing big posts with a lot of pics, too, so I can't really say anything. I have no moral high ground here.

How did I not know that Paku Romi voiced him? Zidane just got even more wonderful, how can this be? 8DDD

And yeah, I have always thought Zidane seemed more mature than the others, though he is younger--if I remember correctly, his canon age is sixteen, though I may have forgotten. He's the only FF hero of the Playstation/Playstation 2 era that I can think of who keeps his chin up and gets through things with good humor and good grace, remaining an inspirational help to his party even in the rough times, instead of wallowing in an emo bucket with his emo self until I wanted to kick him in the shins.

(Well, okay, he did go off and sulk and possibly get drunk when Garnet was whisked off to be queen, but nothing dangerous was happening at the time that he knew of, and he sobered up and went to be there for her anyway when she needed him. XD)

Zidane vs. Kuja cutscene (Japanese)

In both of these the players are fighting on Zidane's 'home' battlefield, and the music is FF9's bossfight battle music. ♥ You can hear Paku Romi voicing him, obviously. I think during his limit break trance attack, Zidane says 'I'm not weak!' and something about a perfect combo but I'm not sure about that.

He's the only FF hero of the Playstation/Playstation 2 era that I can think of who keeps his chin up THIS. This explains why I always thought Zidane was pretty mature/older! Now that I think about it, I realize that out of Squall, Cloud, Zidane, and Tidus, Zidane has led the least sheltered childhood which might explain his maturity level, but I love that he's not going to angst on the road. XD

Zidane is far and away my favorite FF hero and FFIX is far and away my favorite game in the series. He's the only one of the boys I could take out for a night on the town and expect to have a fantastic time. ♥

(You know, that honestly applies to the entire cast. Have I ever mentioned that, thanks to Guardian's fic, Freya is now and forever voiced in my head by Emma Thompson?)

Zidane is my baby. I've been meaning to cosplay his Dissidia version; still want to, actually. He's so damn cool! He's a lady's man (monkey?) and he's funny and nice and optimistic! and he can kick your ass! =DDDD
